Graphing Scientific Data With MS-Excel

This tutorial is designed as a quick introduction to the use of Microsoft Excel for graphing scientific data. These web pages show how to choose data and prepare a graph with the x and y coordinates specified in each column.

These slides show a progression of steps beginning with a data table and ending with a completed graph.

Before you begin, here are some helpful hints:

  • These pages work best with Netscape version 4.7 (or later) and Internet Explorer version 5 (or later)
  • In most slides the green arrows point to the button that would be selected if you were doing the graphing. Clicking the green arrows will move you to the next slide.
  • To see information repeated, reload the page, or return to a previous slide by using the "Back" button on your browser.
  • The links shown on the following slides are not active, only the green arrows have active links.
